Reminder, next Saturday (Nov. 8th) will be the 2nd Annual PSEA/PG&E Ride Day held at Honolulu Hills Raceway. This is an event I've put on for the past two years as being a member of my PG&E non-profit work (Pacific Service Employee Association). It's a low key fun day of practice. Event will kick off at 9:00am and go until 3:00pm. The cost is $20 and that gets you practice all day on a prepped and watered course. So if your in the central Cali area next weekend, stop by. Hot Rod Catering will be doing Hamburgers for lunch.
See you there!

Stilez Robertson out of Bakersfield, Ca has been on a terror this year. Robertson who has been with the Taft Racing group since he was three which was just 3 years ago, has already made national progress and received strong attention. Stilez finished this years Nationals at Ponca City with a 3rd & 4th place finishes along with a solid 5th place at Loretta Lynn's. This was strong enough to grab the attention of Cobra Motorcycles Inc. Stilez will be offered a contract for the 2009 season where he will contest aboard the new Cobra CM50 in the 4-6 class and hopefully continue the relationship where he will transition to the bigger brother Cobra King50 into the 7-8 class. We at Taft would like to congratulate Stilez in his continued efforts and wish him luck in the 2009 season and beyond. Stilez's sponsors include: Answer Racing / DeCal Works / Pro Taper / Spy Optics Local Businesses that sponsored the National trip: Antel / Brinar Consulting Services, LLC / Central California Construction, Inc / Huddleston Crane / JTS Repair / K & R Towing / NTS / Pape' / San Joaquin Facilities Management, Inc

The 7th Annual Taft Summer Series is coming to an end next weekend. It was another successful year. The addition to the 1st Annual Taft Pro Summer Shootout went off well. We had 28 Pro riders show up for this inaugural event. The Summer Series will conclude next weekend (Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008) with over 23 class champions and you as the riders and fans deserve a hard pat on the back. As we all know, this years economy put a huge strain on most activities, but your drive and participation kept this series alive and everyone at Taft Racing would like to take this time and say thank you and we really appreciate your support.
*Remember- we will use the 33% trophy calculation for handing out prizes, so if you raced the entire series you must take in to account that you needed to have the sufficient amount of riders to trophy down over all 6 roundsÉ.You will have had to qualify for the year end prizes by racing 4 of the 6 rounds. As always, cool trophies, gear bags, lubricants and grips to top 3 in all the classes at a 33% calculation.
We want to thank everyone for being involved with the Taft Racing organization for the past 7 years and we look ahead to many more in the future. See everyone at the races. Please continue to check back in at www.taftracing.com. There are some exciting things planned in the very near future.

The July 12 Taft Motorcycle Club Arena Cross Race has been cancelled.
Honolulu Hills Raceway announced today the partnership with Team CCR & Pro rider Bobby Bonds. Bonds currently ride for the private Central Cal Racing team out of Bakersfield, Ca. Team CCR was formed last year with Bobby Bonds debuting in Phoenix, AZ at round #1 of the 2007 WORCS Racing series. After a beginning season that saw ups and downs, Bonds seems to be right at home this year as he sits 2nd in points for the WORCS 2008 National Championship run.
"I feel great right now, I'm totally happy with where I'm at in the series and bringing Honolulu Hills on board was a great addition to the team for the second half run here in 2008." —Bobby Bonds"
Bobby Bonds will join forces with current Honolulu Hills Raceway- Women A rider, Nicole Madsen. Madsen who is coming off a 2007 WORCS National Championship herself has been with the team since its venture late last year. Madsen will continue to run the '08 Yamaha YZ250F's while Bonds will stay aboard his 2008 Kawasaki KX450F's.
"I started this team from scratch, and we have brought it to where it is today. I have kept it small and simple. I couldn't be happier and we are very fortunate with bringing Honolulu Hills on board as the title sponsor for the remaining season" —Derek Gerecke (CCR Team Manager)
"We are happy to step up to help out Bonds for the remainder of the year and hopefully this will turn into a continued relationship into 2009. Melton, Comfort and I spoke about this early on, Jason Reed who still provides PR support for us at Taft was able to work with Comfort and Gereke to put this together in a matter of days. I've watched Bobby grow from the early days on his Team Green KX60 to where he's at today. Honolulu Hills is excited about the Championship chase for this 2008 WORCS Pro National Championship. Bobby is the hometown boy when it comes to connecting Taft, Ca with Motocross. Bonds has (2) Loretta Lynn National Championships, and an impressive amateur resume which includes two years with the Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team in 2001 & 2002. We know Bobby has the potential to secure this Championship and we are excited to back him for this run at it in 2008." —Darin Layton of Honolulu Hills Raceway.
Bonds will debut his Honolulu Hills/CCR ride this weekend at the Glen Helen National. Bobby is currently pre-entered in the Motocross class and will run the #821 this Sunday for Round #1 of the AMA Toyota MX Nationals.

Local Taft racer Kamren Larsen has been selected to participate in the Phoenix KTM Supercross Challenge on Jan. 12th, 2008. Kamren will ride an identically prepared 2008 KTM SX50. There are 15 riders that range from age 7-8. They are selected by their academics in school, there race resume and (1) year required race history. They will run a 3-lap intermission race before the Supercross LCQ. Don't be fooled by exhibition though. These guys get fully prepped bikes for the day, their own mechanic, a full set of KTM gear, helmets, goggles, a gear bag, a $100.00 US Savings Bond, and more goodies. Then if they win the race, they will go back to the US Open in Las Vegas, the second week of October and ride with each Supercorss KTM Challenge winner from the year. Then if they win that, they are crowned the KTM Supercross Challenge Champion and they get to take their 2008 KTM SX50 home with them. Pretty cool huh? So look for results from Kamren at Phoenix and root him on.
The Taft Racing schedule for 2008 has been announced. Some dates may be tentative, but everything else looks good. We look forward to having a good turnout for 2008. Please visit the calendar for the 2008 schedule.

Eichner captures final win in Taft
Brown & Shelman round out podium
It was the final race at Honolulu Hills this weekend and Team Polaris/Eichner Racing captured the final round at Taft, Ca. Like a Washougal race a year and a half ago, the California rain settled in just before the Pro race on Sunday and made for a phenomenal track just before the start. Gate dropped and it was Oregon's Brandon Brown that picked up the ATVRiders.com $100 holeshot award followed closely by Temecula Motor Sports John Shafe and new comer to WORCS Epic/Can-Am's Sage Baker. While the battle up front was forming, 5X WORCS Champion Doug Eichner was making his way to the front fast. By the time the Pros came into the Endurocross section, Eichner was out in front and already starting to gap. Brandon Brown in second, followed by Shafe, Baker, McClanahan and Washington likeable Tim "TPQ" Shelman.
While it looked like Baker was going to give Eichner a run, he started to fade and eventually the 450 expired and was retired early. The EPIC crew didn't have to good of a as the 2007 WORCS National Pro ATV Champion Josh Frederick only lasted three laps before his DSX450 went away as well. While Josh was walking back to the pits Doug Eichner never let off and took his Outlaw 525 to the checkers first. As Doug crossed the line, the battle was between local Pro rider Jarod McClanahan out of Taft, Ca and Tim Shelman. As those two started the white flag lap, the Pro pits were going crazy as those two came screaming through. On the final lap Shelman was able to sneak around J-ROD and take the 3rd and final podium spot. Brandon Brown rode to a well and deserved 2nd place finish. Other notables were former Pro-Am champion Justin Waters who secretly turned Pro on Sunday. Justin showed speed but also suffered mechanicals. Look for JW to go fast in 2008. Atascadero Pro Bike rider Beau Baron showed up and took his stock 2007 Suzuki to a 4th place finish and WORCS Racing staff member/pro rider Ryan Piplic rounded out top 5.
Pro Am field saw teammates Dax Snow and Bronson Bundy battling not only for final round finish, but the National Pro-Am Championship as well. In the end it was Washington's Drew Lattimar who secured the win, Bronson Bundy finished second & Myron Whitehorse captured the 3rd and final podium spot in Pro-Am.

At Santa Maria it was a huge turnout for the hometown team where they hit 4,878 points and KCMX managed to collect 1,934. This was a learning year and we appreciate everyone who participated. Next year will only get better. Take care and don't forget to frequently visit www.centralcoastmx.com & www.taftracing.com.

Jeff Willoh is not just a talented rider. He is truly an inspiration to the sport as well as the riders. He truly has a way with the kids. He really took the time to help each child as a group and individually where they needed it most.
I'm not sure of the names of all who were involved with helping them out but they were all wonderful and worked great together.
When it was all done and it was time to eat, he took the time to eat with us all. We all had a chance to talk, socialize, etc. It was money well spent. Little Kenny really got alot out of it. And the other kids did as well.
We will definitely be attending the next class. Jeff Willoh is truly an AWESOME PERSON. He was great and we loved him. Please pass that on to him for us.
— Sabrina Owens
